Tech-Powered Transformation: A Greener Southeast Asia

The Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) 2024
Published: Oktober 30, 2024

At The Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) 2024, I highlighted Indonesia’s enormous potential to contribute to global sustainability. However, I also addressed the significant challenges the country faces in realizing this potential—challenges like being a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, facing threats of land submersion due to climate change, enduring air pollution, and lagging in human capital development needed to drive sustainable innovation.

Indonesia’s position as a key player in the global sustainability landscape is undeniable. With its abundant natural resources and growing interest in renewable energy, the country has a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Yet, to harness this potential, significant investments in education, technology, and policy reform are crucial. These efforts are not just about reducing emissions but also about building resilience in the face of climate challenges.

During the SWITCH event, I shared the commitment of both TBS Energi Utama and AC Ventures to foster innovation and sustainability across Southeast Asia. By investing in renewable energy projects, sustainable startups, and green technologies, these companies aim to accelerate Indonesia’s transformation into a leader in environmental stewardship. Their initiatives are helping bridge the gap between potential and action, ensuring that Indonesia’s efforts are both impactful and sustainable in the long term.

These steps not only strengthen Indonesia’s standing on the global stage but also serve as concrete efforts toward creating a resilient and greener future for generations to come. With strategic investments and collaboration, Indonesia is poised to become a beacon of hope for sustainability, driving change not just within its borders but across the entire Southeast Asian region.
