I was honored to be invited as the moderator at THINC Indonesia 2024, where I had an insightful discussion with Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, about the future of Indonesia’s tourism economy. This event provided an excellent opportunity to share my experiences with investments in hospitality, particularly in Swiss-Belhotel and Artotel Group. These investments have not only generated strong returns but also reinforced my optimism about the sector’s potential. By focusing on quality and strategic growth, these ventures have significantly contributed to Indonesia’s economic development and global competitiveness in tourism.
My optimism is further reinforced by my role as Chairman of the Indonesia Surfing Association, where I’ve observed the remarkable growth of eco and adventure tourism. These niches attract both local and international visitors, boosting our economy while empowering local communities. By aligning strategic investments with sustainable practices, we can position Indonesia as a top global destination, offering unparalleled experiences while safeguarding our natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
Investing in Indonesia’s tourism is about more than financial gain; it’s about shaping the future of the nation. As we attract both domestic and international investors, our focus must be on building world-class infrastructure and curating experiences that highlight Indonesia’s diversity.
Looking ahead, the future of Indonesia’s tourism is promising, but success will require a unified effort from both public and private sectors. By embracing sustainability and community involvement, Indonesia can solidify its position as a global tourism leader, ensuring that our heritage continues to enchant and inspire the world for generations.
