Global Insights, Local Impact: Developing Indonesia’s Capital Market

It was a pleasure to be back at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), a place that brought back memories of Sea Group’s IPO here in 2017.

Today’s visit was particularly meaningful as First Lady Melania Trump opened the trading session and launched IMPERIA, a platform designed to bring together women CEOs and executives and further advance the role of women in finance and business.

The visit also gave me an opportunity to reflect on how Indonesia’s capital market can continue to develop. I believe the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) can draw valuable lessons from NYSE and other leading exchanges around the world, including in areas such as demutualization and market development.

At the same time, we need to continue strengthening public understanding of the capital market and how a well-developed financial market can contribute to broader economic opportunity and prosperity.

I remain committed to supporting a capital market that is increasingly professional, globally competitive, and able to create meaningful impact for Indonesian society.
