During my recent visit to London, I had the privilege of meeting Dame Susan Langley, Lord Mayor of the City of London, to exchange perspectives on financial sector development, including the financial reforms and stock exchange demutualization currently underway in Jakarta.
London’s long history as a leading global financial centre offers valuable lessons for Indonesia. Its established financial markets and banking institutions demonstrate the importance of building strong, resilient institutions that can sustain their relevance and credibility over time.
I also had a productive discussion with David Hearn, Head of Global Partnerships at Bloomberg Media, about Indonesia’s ambition to become one of Asia’s leading financial centres.
I believe this ambition can create meaningful opportunities for Indonesia. By continuing to strengthen our financial institutions, deepen our global connections, and learn from established financial centres, we can help build a more competitive financial ecosystem that supports long-term economic growth and prosperity for the Indonesian people.
