Pandu – This recurring pandemic requires not only business actors in all sectors to make changes but also encourages them to learn new skills, particularly related to technology.
As happened some time ago, a wave of unrest due to the pandemic has hit various employment sectors and investment activity which are increasingly integrated with the technology industry. Thus, the industry’s demand for high–skilled tech workers is utterly high.
The younger generation is fortunate because they encounter a golden opportunity while still having plenty of free time to learn many things, especially the world of technology. The latest SEA Insight research shows that 72% of ASEAN millennials (16-35 years old) are exploring new skills in the midst of a pandemic. Therefore, in my opinion, older workers inevitably have to struggle more to reskill themselves to be able to compete with the younger generation.
However, do not put aside your soft skills in the workplace, such as collaboration and communication. They are tremendously pivotal. Particularly during a pandemic, everyone must give their best to make the company able to survive, take advantage of various opportunities, and create a directed, firm, and accessible work culture.
