E-commerce’s Roles in the #BanggaBuatanIndonesia Program

Pandu – Last Friday, I was very happy to be able to have an open discussion with my old friends, Rachmat CEO of Bukalapak and William CEO of Tokopedia, at BukaTalks. We discussed things about changes and struggles throughout this pandemic. Three of us agree that the pandemic has accelerated digital transformation. The pandemic also encourages E-commerce players to build a more tight-knit community through the #BanggaBuatanIndonesia program.

The digital industry plays a role in rev up Indonesia’s economic growth. I also appreciate the government that makes an effort to implement technology in transformative ways for supporting economic growth, one of which is through the #BanggaBuatanIndonesia program in collaboration with Indonesia’s biggest e-commerce players.

The current digital consumption has changed, not to mention the rapidly progressive digital change or transformation. The business plan that I prepared for 2022 turns out to be implemented this year.

#BanggaBuatanIndonesia is a program initiated by the government to ameliorate domestic consumption and economic growth. I see a big role, collaboration, and contribution of the e-commerce players in the success of the government program. Only within 4-5 weeks after being implemented, approximately 1 million MSME players have switched the sales mode from offline to online.

The #BanggaBuatanIndonesia program attempts to support Indonesia’s economic performance by integrating technology. The use of technology is very crucial because we are now in an era where technology is part of everyday life. E-commerce helps consumers fulfill their needs, while MSMEs continue to grow even amid a pandemic like what we face today.

The journey of the digital industry in Indonesia is much shorter than any other country on the frontline of technology. We still have a lot to learn from them and business players. But one thing is certain: this pandemic has further strengthened the relations among players of the e-commerce industry due to the same vision, which is to support the recovery of Indonesia’s economy.
