Digitalization of Domestic Capital Market

Komisaris Bursa Efek Indonesia, Pandu Patria Sjahrir berbicara mengenai Digitalisasi Pasar Modal Indonesia.

PanduOn Thursday, (17/9) I get the chance to share my thoughts at “Inspiration Talk”, a webinar held by MNC Sekuritas. It’s really exciting to have a discussion with people who have the same interest to make an improvement on our capital market. In this hard situation like nowadays, all organizations have to see the opportunities, quickly and accurately. Likewise, Indonesia Stock Exchange should adapt to the digital trends and technologies.

Through digitalization, as a result, we can attract more young people to invest in our capital market. With 3.1 million retail investors registered in the capital market, or approximately 1.1% of the total population, the increase of our retail investors should rapidly continue. According to the data, local investors control 64% of the transaction value this year, this is something that should be appreciated. This is a good moment to attract more potential investors, such as the millennial generation to invest in the capital market.

On the other hand, it is not only about the increasing investor. I also have the challenge to bring the tech companies to make an IPO to the IDX to encourage the existing market demand. The Indonesia Stock Exchange ought to convince the best Indonesian technology companies to see the domestic capital market as an attractive and good place to fund. Both from a fiscal perspective and prioritizing the services provided.

At the end, what IDX does is to present the best and attractive supply and demand. This is to encourage a strong capital market industry in Indonesia’s economic development. Thanks to MNC Securities for giving me the chance to share my thoughts. Also, thanks to Mr. Harry Tanoe, Mr. Inarno and Mrs. Susy who also attended the webinar.
